Symbols have the power to communicate ideas, messages and identities.
How can something as complex as an identity of a company, service or organization be conveyed through simple images and text?
•What is a logo and why do we need them?
•What types of images go into creating a logo?
LOGO Google Slides

Slides 1-3:
Choose a logo that has changed at least three times.
Create a Google Slide Show for your logo of choice.  Give a slide to each of the logo variations.
Slide 4:
In your own words, describe how the logo has evolved over time and whether you think the current logo is successful.
Imagine that you have been asked to redesign the company’s current logo. Create 1 hand drawn sketches of your idea. Take a photo and upload it to your slide show.

Slides 5-7:
Negative and Positive Space
Collect 3 logos that use one image to create another by employing negative space

C.R.A.P. The principles of graphic design

CONTRAST occurs when two elements on a page are different. For example, it could be different  colors between the text and the background color. It could be a heading set in a big, bold, grungy font combined with a sans-serif font for the body text. It could be a difference between a large graphic and a small graphic or it could be a rough texture combined with a smooth texture. Our eyes like contrast.

REPETITION The principle of repetition simply means the reusing of the same or similar elements throughout your design. Repetition of certain design elements in a design will bring a clear sense of unity, consistency, and cohesiveness.

Color Theory
Color, Culture, and Meaning

Write the following colors down in your notebook.  List the meaning you attach to each color.  Give at least three possible meanings:
Red

Blue
Purple
Orange
Pink
Green
Yellow

Hue
Saturation

Line Design Challenge:
You must express the word you were given using only abstract lines made of paper.

Lines can vary – Thick vs Thin Long vs Short Angular vs Curvy
but they are not shapes.

Abstract means no recognizable objects, letters/numbers, or symbols.
Consider the importance of negative space in your design.
